I went into middle school already knowing a little music, but I had absolutely no interest in band. However, since I wanted to be just like my sister, I joined band thinking I could play the oboe like her. However, when her friend found out I was joining, she told me to play tuba...now understand I thought she was the coolest person in the world, so despite my friends' odd looks when I told them my quest for the tuba, I started playing it. I almost quit because of my completely incompetent instructor, but stayed in it, and pretended to love the tuba just because my sister's incredibly cool friend did. And after pretending so long, I REALLY DO love my tuba, and I'm even currently playing my sousaphone along side that girl who inspired me.
