Hi.

I am also a full time euphoniumist, but I've only dabbled in tuba playing here and there in my school career. I have played a few big CC and BBb tubas before, and ALWAYS found them rather difficult to play. Now, I am sure this is because I honestly didnt play them that much--not enough to gain any skill anyway...

My point is, though, that I have also picked up a few Eb's on occasion, and they were always so EASY to play... I mean, the two horns I've tried blow so much like a euphonium. I believe those two horns were a new Besson Eb, and an old Yamaha Eb. Cant be sure about the yamaha, also dont remember model numbers, cause hey, I am a euphonium player... I've got my Willson 2900... So I never bother learning model numbers :)

Point is, as a very novice tubist, the Eb horns I've played were always tremendously easy. As much as you play tuba, I'd say your chops on a small tuba will be as good as your euph chops in no time.

Better get more advice from more avid doublers, but thats been my experience :)
