In the past, there was a "Preacher Model" trombone in C (Conn?) and a couple of years ago, Yamaha tested the waters with a student model with a backwards-operating Bb attachment...Depress the valve and the instrument is shortened to C, allowing for 1st position C / 2nd position B (as with an "F"-attachment) without all of the bulk and weight.

Folks gotta buy 'em for these guys to make 'em and and further develop 'em.
