A number of postings have mentioned making recordings for auditions etc. I wanted to do this and began looking into the problem of getting the right equipment to do so. It seemed to me that I would want quality beyond what a 'boom box' would provide but I soon discovered that tape decks no longer have microphone pre-amps. I have looked at getting a small mixer board (Radio Shack) and some mikes but this still seems a bit more than what I need. I have also thought about getting an old workable reel-to-reel machine. Does anyone have any better ideas? (I hope!)
