Yeah, kids do like shiny. At our local high school the euph players fight to play the shiny Yamaha YEP321s and shun the older, no longer shiny Besson 967 compensating horns. Having messed around with all of them, there is no question that the two Bessons are FAR better instruments. Likewise, the tuba players all prefer the schools newer Yamaha YBB641s to the older King 2341s which play significantly better in tune.
