Klaus, with your knowledge of East German tubas perhaps you can provide some background on a Sonora BBb 4 valve rotary tuba that I purchased last year. I was told by Matt at Dillons that it is about 30 years old and was made in East Germany. Apparently, they were also branded Bach and Schneider for a while. The main tuning slide is vertical not horizontal.
I am a community player trying to get back in shape after a 25 year lay off. This horn has proved to be everything I need at the moment, and I truly enjoy playing it. As many on this BBS have said before, it's not the brand it's the fit, and this horn fits me well.
Any background information you may have would be appreciated.
