Well...not necessarily. If you think about it, piston valves are probably faster. Think of it this way...when you push the button on a rotary vavle, that cause the shaft to move which THEN causes the vavle to go into place. With pistons one movement of the valve does it all. Not to say that rotors can't be set up to play as fast as pistons. I had the valves on my old Musica BBb going turbo after they were well set up. I also doubt that the type of vavle would have an effect on intonation; however rotors do have a slight advantage over pistons when it comes to slurs. If you decide on rotarys make sure you look at the manufacturer. Russian St. Pete: Bad. Miraphone: Better
