An interesting theory, but what else would we expect from an economist. I worked both
music and computer industry for nearly 32 years before I retired from IBM ( as a systems engineer) to work solely on music. With the pension and the freelance jobs and a working wife, it's all right but not super. The way business is eating workers right now, if you want to be a JAVA programmer or any other industry related job, you will be expected to put in 50 to 60 hour weeks, leaving little time for music. I get to put the 50 or 60 hours each week on my horn and on playing jobs. I think the change started in
1928, with the Al Jolson film "The Jazz Singer" and hasn't turned around yet.
