Klaus says: 'Owning a York Master, which is not equalling "being master of a York".'

In my case at least, truer words were never spake.

I can't think of a stencil name in the tuba world where the stencil leaves the impression that a horn is something fancier than the horn's native maker's mark. Nobody who has done five minutes of research will believe that a Bach Mercedes claims to be something better than a Yamaha.

We are fortunate. It is not true in other industries. Go spend $6000 on an Epson DLP projector, and discover that it is actually made by Plus Corp, which is the U.S. marketing name for who-knows-who.

Or Curtis Mathes TV's, which were advertised as being both expensive and superior. In fact, they were made by a variety of manufacturers, including Toshiba, Gold Star, Thompson Electronics, or even Zenith. None of those makers have the reputation that Curtis Mathes portrayed in advertising.

Klaus nailed it again with the idea that pros will not be fooled by a dog in wolf's clothing.
