Why does everybody refer to the Berlioz Symphony Fantistique is the quintessencial 'power' orchestral tuba part? The original part was not (to the best of my knowledge) written for an enourmous, earth shaking 'tuba' sound at all. Didn't Berlioz have the sound of an ophiclide (excuse in accurate spellings please) when he wrote the part?
Or am I just out to lunch on this whole issue?
