Thanks for the info,Lew. I'm well familiar with the heft of the 25J, which I played for about 5 years in college in the alte 60's and sporadically during a couple of stretches in the 80's when the local music school needed extra tubas for a performance.
Large horn, large sound, but tricky in the higher range (above the staff) if you hard to start a passage up there.
I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of this one. My preference would be a 25J because of the short action valves and the upright bell, but I'd be happy to find a good 24J.
