Rick, it'd be interesting if you could get your hands on a double bass and run the same comparisons. I suspect that the DB has a vanishingly small fundamental component, which might explain why orchestral composers prefer its sound to the tuba. Not trying to stir up a hornet's nest, just curious.
BTW, did you find the serial number on the YM?
