Ask any plumber who does commercial work--stainless steel can be soldered quite easily using the correct flux. (for Rick D.) When I build a wheel, I don't bother to tie the SS spoke crossings--I just solder 'em together using phosphoric acid as a flux and silver-bearing soft solder.
