Posters here always suggest that airlines will charge extra for overweight and oversized luggage / tubas (tuba in travel case, carried in storage underneath the plane). However, no one ever seems to have had this actually happen to them. Can anyone give an example of when and how often they have been charged extra?
Will the airline take into consideration the aggregate weight (or lack thereof) of the luggage in one's traveling party? I am traveling in a family group of 3 with just one tuba but otherwise very light luggage to Finland - any thoughts? Just trying to figure out if I need to budget any extra $ for this already very expensive trip.
