As a (sad) follow-up. I sold my 186 several years later when I was out of college for $2,000. Not a very proper way to treat a horn that paid my way through college with music scholarships! I could not stand being without my horn so I bought a Yamaha. I have been playing that horn for the past 15 years. I'm currently in the market to purchase another 186 to replace my first horn. I find that I have more playing opportunities now than ever and I want a better horn. Many times I wish I had never sold my first horn.
