I have used cooking oil as a non toxic alternative plastisizer for cleaning hot melt adhesive systems. Worked great except that because it is vegetable based, the residue eventually decomposed and caused a different problem. I would guess that a similar problem would occur over time if used as valve oil. Have since switched to a lightweight mineral oil which is more stable, but I could not recommend that for a valve oil as prolonged contact could cause a SEVERE personal problem.
