I have played both miraphone 191's side by side several times and I think the 5th rotor valves has a darker sound and projects much better. The four valve is no slouch but one must consider which tuba sound one likes better to satify your own ears and where you will be playing as far as the acoustics are concerned. I like to use the fith valve for better combinations for pedal tones and they are awesome to make the room rumble and blend with other tuba players sound. It is so much fun to see there heads turn to see how you do it. Might even get a smile of aproval from the director. Most people like to feel the tubas low bass sound the 191's will do that for sure!!!!!! Happy tuba trails
