Arnold Jacobs: the greatest??

I think it is (fairly) universally accepted that Arnold Jacobs was one of the greatest tubists to date. I did however have a lesson with a symphony pro that used to take from Jacobs who wouldn't say that all of his recordings were impeccable. For instance, the first movement of the VW - the measure right before the C to Db trill (measure before 2) Jacobs plays it as two distinctly separated groups of sixteenths, while my teacher tells me to play it as one line and to not place accents on any of the groupings. I know this is minute, but are there a great majority of people that disagree with any of his "interpretations" or his liberties that he takes or anything like that. It seems like maybe among his many other solo recordings that he may have done similar things. Just trying to see if I am the only one.....
