What you describe is typical of community groups. What I would advise you is not how to solve the problem, but how to learn to deal with it, because the chances of its being solved are very slim. In community groups, there is a mix of levels of competence and also a mix of levels of skill. The key to being welcome in a community group is to get along with everyone as well as possible. To do that, it is most wise to not criticize their playing; the vast majority of them are there for social reasons, and the sooner you realize that the happier you will be. If you want to apply high musical standards, you should consider starting a brass quintet with like-minded people.

Other than that....if you can find a way to express your concerns, such as "I don't feel I'm playing exactly with the rest of the section at letter A; could we work on that?" to the conductor...you might get somewhere. Best of luck.
