I have heard two of the CDs in this cycle by Vanska/BBC Scottish Symphony.
I agree that Symphonies 3 & 4 are very well played and recorded. In fact, as a tuba
critic I would say that I prefer the playing/style of the BBC Scottish to the other
version I own, which is the San Francisco/Blomstedt version.Only my opinion though.
The other CD I have in this Vanska Cycle is the one with Symphonies 2 & 5. This , for
me is even better, and has some huge brass sounds and very stylish work on it . Well
worth getting.A few sections even reminded me of the CSO section.
I don't know who the tuba is on these recordings - but it is great playing.
