The missing identity of the BBC Scottish Symphony's tuba is Mr Chris McShane.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr McShane two years ago when the orchestra played
Mechanics Hall, Worcester. The orchestra conducted by Osmo Vanska did sound good
and the "Bear" solo in Petrushka was just awesome - really big and heavy.
Mr McShane played a Besson 981 that night and also had,if I remember right,
a large Kurath CC tuba.
I have not yet had the pleasure of hearing any of the Nielsen symphonies but
I will certainly look out for them.
