I've played a Rudy 5/4 BBb. The way it felt matched up with two descriptions:
A former teacher described his Alex as wonderfully versatile, but *you* had to steer it.
Mr. Bertolet describing his Cerveny as being able to do it all but it takes a lot of air.
These two descriptions seem the opposite of what I'm looking for. As a second-rate amateur, I won't put in the time necessary to develop what I'd need to make good sounds on horns like that. My Miraphone is versatile--I'd be looking for a horn that does a lot of the work for me, even at the expense of versatility. It doesn't have to be a 6/4, just a horn on which I can count on making reasonable sound without the level of practice that I'd like to have, or that I need to maintain a good sound on the Miraphone.
