First of all, is there a tuba you can use at the College that you will be attending? Secondly, let me sympathize with you. I'm in the same boat as you, all I have ever wanted to be is a professional musician and now I am finally getting a chance to study music as in depth as I would like. However I have the same problem, my school has given me a very good scholarship but only if I stay as a Performance major. I'm interested in other subjects as well, music/Ed, history. It is quite scary to think that I will have a degree that means nothing when I get out of school. As for getting enough experince I would have to say that Performance degrees are used to get players on an advanced track, whereas music/ed. and minor degrees give you the same opportunities but not the same quantity of experince.
