Hopefully some of you guys can help me with this. I currently own a 4/4 CC and an F tuba, my next purchase is going to be a 6/4. The $10,000 sticker price for a professional 6/4 CC (or higher) is not seen as a reality at the moment or in the near future. I've been thinking of alternatives to this problem. I have played 6/4 BBb tubas, Holton specifically, that were awesome horns, probably 15 to 20 years old atleast, and they were monster instruments that played beautifully. I've never liked the way a cut BBb played, so I'm seriously considering purchasing a 6/4 BBb, its just new fingerings, right? So, if some of you guys with experience in this matter, advice, or even better, recommendations on how to go about purchasing one of these could help me out it would be much appreciated.
