I don't actually hate The Thunderer (or any Sousa march for that matter) except that this particular march was what we ended every Pops concert we've done for the last 8 years, up until the beginning of last season. These concerts were conducted by Peter Nero and he finished every one of his concerts with this encore. The FPO even received letters from our audience asking (begging) us to stop playing that piece as an encore and to do something else. As for the 4th Symphony, I really like the piece but too often we just do the last movement and that ruins the effect.
My opinion for what it's worth...
