Hirsbrunner ain't really German. Their horns are more American in my opinion as is the other Swiss company Willson.
For my ears the benchmark German tuba sound is an Alexander, Miraphone, Rudy Meinl, or Meinl Weston. The opposite would be something like Yamaha or Besson.
