travel (driving) with tubas

Hey everyone,
I have seen tons of info in flying with tubas, and taking trains with tubas, but now I have a question about driving with tubas!
I will be driving to NC this weekend for the SYMPHONIA workshop, (oh, I'm guessing 8 hour drive overall) and I'm taking 2 horns. I have a hard case for my E-flat, but I don't yet have the hardcase for my big horn. This sounds crazy I know, but given what I have to work with, which is an Altieri bag, does anyone have "safest" suggestions for travel? My car comfortably fits 4 tubas, so I can pack it anywhere I want to as far as that goes. Opinions? Front seat, back seat, trunk? I know I am being really paranoid, but one "tuba accident" is enough...
Thanks!
