As an accomplished high school musician, I am looking to further my development by majoring in performance and education in college. Right now I would like to continue developing a strong, contrasting repetoire. I currently know the Sonata in A Minor(everyone plays it), Sonata Breve(Gallagher), the Hindemith, and am currently working on the Effie Suite. Besides the major works, such as the VW, the Gregson, etc. what other challenging pieces should I be working on. I want to expand my limits and I want something harder than the Effie Suite and the Hindemith. Lso, I am looking for a good book for theme and variation type pieces. Anything you can suggest? Thanks in advance.
