record yourself playing these pieces right now...print out this post that you wrote, and then in 10 years listen to the tape and read the post. I bet you will be surprised.
you have many years to play these pieces...play something you can nail 99% of the time.
I "played" the Vaughan Williams the summer after my Freshman year in high school...got a 1, went to state, all that great stuff.
I played it 2 months ago for my Junior recital...sure seemed a lot harder than it was after only 4 years on the tuba.
Practice fundamentals, and prepare something WELL within your grasp for now. Those fundamentals will come through on whatever you play...and that's what the panel will care about.
