It may sound harsh... but I would fire her. I make it a policy for my students that I always show up, and show up prepared. The third time they don't is the last time. When they grow enough to do the work, I will help them find someone else to study with. I really believe that if my teachers had taken this tack, instead of letting me slide by... I would be a far better prepared player now. I am very supportive of my students who do their stuff, and friends with my ex-students who do not.
