If you time your ETS date correctly then you can. It is just like going from a military job to a civilian job. If the dates line up well then the civilian job will start about the same time as when your enlistment is ending. Same goes for changing branches.

Will the different commanders and the Pentagon let you change in the middle of an enlistment? Now that gets much more complicated and depending on the circumstances of course, is not nearly as easy a process. It is very difficult to cleanly separate from the military early. Not that it is impossible, but you can't just fill out DoD form DoD-IQuiT and be allowed to leave.

Also, in order to audition for another military band while already in the military you must obtain a letter of permission from your command.
