My "What the Heck" was that with all this mystery and voodoo surrounding the tubas of the Great Legends of our time, that we've gone overboard. Does anyone know, for instance, of a tuba owned and played by Bill Bell that they'd like to make their regular horn? Didn't think so.

Andersen may have gotten much of his information from the Chicago Symphony members. He was head of the music theory department at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago (not the sham outfit the operates under that name today, but the real one).

I think we're probably in agreement about a few things.
