Thanks, Rob;

This is actually a horn I'm considering buying, and so I'm trying to come to some sort of informed opinion about it. It's a BBb bare brass 4 valve top action non-detachable upright bell model, and the serial number is in the 13x,xxx range (1913 or '14 according to the serial number charts online). I will be receiving a picture of it from the current owner soon, and then I would be happy to post same. He lives in a different state.

I'm currently playing a 3 valve '30s horn, and wondering if this older Conn would be a step up or a step down? Are these older horns good instruments, or would it be wiser to wait for some later model to turn up? I was considering this in order to start playing 4 valves.

Thanks in advance for any advice, opinions, etc.
