What happened to them? I heard a BSO concert where Chester played both his Getzen and his Alexander CC. It was the first time I've heard an Alexander in action with a player as great as him, it was the most beautiful tuba sound I've ever heard. It wasn't so powerful and dominant of a sound as I'm accustom to, but its gorgeous color stole my heart. Where'd all the Alexanders go?

Alexander stopped manufacturing tubas, right? Why - When? What new horns model themselves after the Alexander, if any? Its a shame these tubas are so rare now.

Since Jacobs, the sound concept the York offers has found its way into many of the country's top orchestras. Is there still a place for the smaller sound of the Alexander? What'dyall think?
