The three models that I have tried (3/4, 4/4 and 5/4, all older tubas) were excellent sounding tubas. The Rudolph Meinl workmanship was suberb and obviously built to last a lifetime. In my opinion the Rudolph Meinl has a more "lively" (yet another slippery term, perhaps more high overtones) sound then the Meinl Westons. The older Meinl Westons (Standard model and Bell model) were just as well made and, like the Rudolph Meinls, served many tubists well. I have not tried the newer models for either, so take this for what it is worth.
