I believe slide pulling is a much better way to fix intonation problems, simply because you are not blowing into the center of the horn and it will therefore effect your sound. Now, don't get me wrong, I fix most minor intonation problems with my lip, but when you're talking about blowing a note a quarter tone in either direction, I think the sound inevitably suffers.
