I'm trying to help my son purchase a Tuba for use in college. He will be a freshman this fall and it was recommended by the prof he auditioned for that he purchase a CC tuba. From the research that I've done so far, and from reading many postings here, I think I want to avoid the e**y scenario, and would like to find a horn from a reputable manufacturer. It also seems to me that my son should really 'try out' any instrument we intend to purchase, rather than buy blind. Since I am not a musician (singing is my musical calling) I've had no experience in purchasing instruments. I was wondering if there is a reputable dealer in the Michigan area. I'd be willing to drive to Ohio/Ill areas if I can't find a dealer here. I'm primarily interested in a used instrument, 4/4 size, and of course CC key. Thanks in advance for any help.
