To succeed at this, one must:

- figure out a way to securely mount the mouthpiece on a lathe without chipping up the mouthpiece.

- make sure that the shank on the mouthpiece is ON CENTER with the rest of the mouthpiece. (DON'T ASSUME THIS!!!)

- experiment around with a junk mouthpiece ahead of time to set your cutter exactly right to match the taper.

- cut with a very sharp cutter set at just the right angle. Cut off very little at a time, and measure often. LEAVE IT TOO BIG to allow for final sanding a buffing.

- Finally: GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT. ;^)
