Has anyone turned the American shanks on Schilke, Bach, or Conn mouthpieces enough to fit the old European receiver size of a B & H Imperial?
The Schilke is a little larger than the Bach. I would like to try it, but if I cannot narrow the shank enough then it is not worth the effort. Also, I do not know if the sound is affected badly by a turned down shank. I inquired at the B & H factory in the U.K. by telephone and someone recommended that I turn down the shank on a DW2 shallow rather than attempting to special order a small shank even if they would make it--so maybe the sound is alright.
I know I can special order a small shank from Schilke and Bach, but it takes more than 14 months for Schilke and maybe for Bach.
