Having compared the Pines/Fountains XRCD, RCA/BMG LS CD, Classic records 45 and 33 rpm vinyl reissues, and the rare suppressed first issue 1S copy LP, the Living stereo Shaded Dog 1S copy is still hard to beat. That said, the 20 bit RCA/BMG CD is worth picking up for the money. The XRCD while sounding impressive, IMO isn't worth the money. An engineer who's worked for JVC told me that they eq their recordings to sound more spacious and "live". That's not exactly reproducing what's on the master tapes.
