I think they like Eb tubas more in Europe/England because they are used for Brass band playing where is music is written in treble clef for the Eb tuba. I hope to get an audition with a local brass band in a couple weeks. I have never played to treble parts but what they have told me for the transposing sounds easy to do if you have an Eb tuba. They said to read it in bass clef and add three flats to whatever key it is in and the Eb fingerings will be correct for the music since it is written for that horn. I am not sure if I explained it correctly or not but that would explain why they use Eb over F in Brass band which are much more popular in Europe. I think the F tubas translate into symphonic music better because of the key most of the music is written.

I hope this answers you question at least one of them.
