If the player plays with slides all the way in on a 3 valve tuba, notes using just 1 or just 2 or just 3 are still going to be flat and notes using 1+2, 2+3, 1+3, and 1+2+3 are going to be sharp.

If the player plays with slides all the way in on a 4 valve tuba, notes using just 1 or just 2 or just 3 or just 4 are going to be exact. 1+2, and 2+3 are still going to be sharp. And 1+3 and 1+2+3 are going to be worse then on a 3 valve.

The length of the first valve on a 3 valve tuba is longer then the length of the first valve on a 4 valve tuba.
