All of this reminds me of PDQ Bach's work(s) for the Lasso D'Amore. I had the oportunity (as have many of you, probably) to see Prof. Shickle perform on the instrument (as well as the tromboone) with the Atlanta Symphony (a long time ago). It was a riot. I can imagine that a hosaphone in the appropriate size would indeed, 'send them to the exits".
