Same thing happens to me at my school. It is very annoying. Sometimes when it really gets on my nerves, I just sit out while the tromebones play. The Orchestra conductor finally says either: "With tuba" or " I'm sorry, with the tuba also". This happens sometimes in Wind Ensemble and Brass rep. One time in brass rep. class, the conductor said something to the effect: "Trombones play at letter "B" to seven bars after". After they had played it he asks: Why didn't you play?". I respond: "You said trombones play". "I thought you only wanted the trombones to play". Then he says: Trombones and TUBA play. It pisses me off too. We tuba players still don't get the recognition we deserve. It is also frustrating because I play better than the trombones here at my school. Try sitting out and see it that finally gets their attention and then you might get a little recognition you deserve.
