While I pretty much agree with you I have to say there comes a point when too much "tromboning is just unacceptable. There is a certain Conn 5j that I am required to play sometimes that the first valve is just awful. I have to move the slide entirely too much for normal playing. I should not have to change the slide for every note that requires its use. But with this horn I do. So I do. Hopefully someday I will be able to buy a better horn but until then the tromboning continues.....
