The MW and Willson models you mention are considered over-the-top (and somewhat out-of-tune) models by many and only liked by a few.

If you'll notice, the online pricing for a new MW has dropped down to the mid-$2000 range, and whenever someone has a new 2950 on an internet auction (Australia/Denmark, etc.) they consistantly have their 2950 priced significantly less than one would expect to pay for a 2900.

As the dealer, I tried unsuccessfully to talk a graduating bigger-is-better-thinking high school senior out of buying a 2950 a few years ago (in favor of a 2900). Just like many 17-18-year-olds, his concept of sound and sense of pitch were not highly-developed enough to realize that a 2900 is clearly a better choice.
