I was recently diagnosed with TMJ. I have it at a severe level already and had to quit playing tuba for 3 months. My advice is the same as others. Take time off and get better or you take the chance of making it worse and it only gets more painful. Dont force yourself to play through the pain. And you may want to see a doctor that can deal with TMJ and have splints made. They are expensive but they do help in the healing process. Good Luck.
