Hello,
I recently played trumpet in my school play, Guys and Dolls. It was the most fun I've had this year. I started on trumpet for half a year (6th grade) and switched to tuba (BBb) because of a rather weird reason that I won't get into.
There is no problem with playing both if you don't do it too much. One big problem is losing your tone on the tuba after playing trupmet for a few days. It can take a while to get it back. Plus the high range is bad on the trumpet and the low range is absolutely terrible on the tuba. I think this has to do with how your jaw adapts to the size of the mouthpiece you're playing on.
Overall there is not much of a problem. I do not find myself getting mixed up with clefs very much and transposing on trumpet is easy. I play on a student model Holton trumpet (mine) which I feel has a better sound than a lot of professional models. Mouthpiece is a Vincent Bach 3C.
