I currently play the euphonium and tuba and have found no really big problems. However, I am a TUBA player by trade. I like playing both because of the more difficult passages I encounter on euphonium and the improvement of tounging it gives me when I go back to tuba. I must say however that my high register has suffered a little on euphonium after playing on the tuba. I'm sure it could be done and you can be very good at both but I always kind of keep the saying "Jack of all Trades, Master of None." in the back of my head to help me remember to stay truly focused on my bread-and-butter instrument(tuba)and realize the other(euphonium)is for fun and extra practice time only. If that's what you enjoy doing, by all means do what is beat for you and not your private instructor. I wish you the best of luck.
