Fourth Valve on Side

Hi.

I'm considering buying a four-valve horn and was thinking about a Besson, as I currently have an old three-valve Boosey & Hawkes that I really like. What are your opinions on having the fourth valve on the side? It seems like it might be kind of awkward, but I've never played one with this configuration. Is there any advantage to having the valve on the side? I assume some people must prefer this setup or they would stop manufacturing them that way.
